Over the next hundreds of years, the use of a brain-computer interface will reach its greatest potential, where the mind will be able to be uploaded and be independent of the body. A personal body archive and customized garment will then be used to preserve the body as it awaits the return of its mind.

In this collection, Yunyi Zhang speculates the future possibilities and explores the relationship between the human mind and body by searching for future possibilities with contemporary knowledge such as dualism, BCI, PVS, and astral projection. Her work illustrates the concepts of tension and freedom through the juxtaposition of soft and strong materials.

Materiality plays an essential role and is seen through the use of plant foam material, bio textiles, and dead stock yarns. Yunyi integrates advanced technology and unconventional materials with traditional techniques such as combining crochet work with 3D printing structures. She sees her work as a comforting and immersive tactile experience with a visual tone of futuristic couture.
